With Hands Like His

After getting rave reviews from friends who have seen Sunshine's works posted here last week, I finally told him that his 'private' artworks have now gone public...thanks to me! Though he got extremely red in embarassment, the big smile on his face was an indication that he was happy with what I've done. So . . .

I present to you now another set of art works from my Sunshine, this time with his permission.

Enjoy!

Ray of WHITE

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Weeks before, I had already planned to be at the annual White Party in Malate. With my fellow Madonniacs joining in, I had a feeling that this year's party will be a bit more special. Unfortunately, my Sunshine had to beg off as he had to recuperate from his visit with his dentist.

Coming from Las Pinas after attending a last-minute despedida for a balikbayan friend US-bound in a few hours, I arrived at the Orosa strip a little before midnight and received an amazing welcome of divine proportion. How so, you ask?

While frantically looking for my friends Francis, AJ , Victor and my roommate Rolf among the sweaty crowd, the speakers started to blast the intro to my ultimate favorite Madonna dance track, Ray of Light. And as if the Powers That Be guided me, I found myself already in the company of the MadPack when the first lines of the song was sung.

In all fairness, Bituin Escalante gave a justified Ray of Light rendition with a voice so much better than Madonna's (albeit her ridiculous use of her palms as an idiot board and sans the trademark Madonna attitude). With a few go-go boys (with wings!) as her back up dancers, the performance was nothing short of HEAVENly and was an apt start for a fun night.

I also saw a few other friends that night including some I have not seen in a very long time. Like A Reunion!

We capped the night like a Breakfast Club with a post-party meal in a Chinese resto. Our feet tired, our stomachs crumbling but our spirits renewed, we took that opportunity to finally have a conversation without having to scream above loud music.

And I feel like I just... Got home a little after dawn and with so much that happened that night, and the beautiful people I saw, the one thing that was still in my head was that song, Ray Of Light. Well . . .

Works of heART

A few months back, Sunshine started to sketch and draw as a hobby. He eventually anted it up and now uses water colors and oil pastels. The shy guy that he is, he never lets me watch him as he works and only shows me the finished work if he thinks it's any good.

Amazingly, most are great (despite his self-deprecating disagreement). Those that aren't, are not really that bad.

Allow me to showcase some of his artworks. I am posting these without his permission (a worthy risk to take...)

Oh Father!

Through the darkness, I can see your light
And you will always shine,
And I can feel your heart in mine
Your face I've memorized, I idolize just you

I look up to everything you are
In my eyes you do no wrong
I've loved you for so long
And after all is said and done
You're still you
After all, You're still you

You walk past me, I can feel your pain
Time changes everything
One truth always stays the same
You're still you
After all, You're still you

I look up to everything you are
In my eyes you do no wrong
And I believe in you
Although you never asked me to
I will remember you
And what life put you through

And in this cruel and lonely world
I found one love
You're still you
After all ,
You're Still You

To the Man I admire...
To the Man I adore...
To the Man I hold in high esteem...
To the first Man who Loved me...
and the only Man whose Pride is my ultimate goal . . .

HAPPY FATHER's DAY!

Sunshine Award Winner Me

In my 32 years, I have only received very few awards or recognitions: the occasional 1st or 2nd honors in grade school, an Alay Kapwa award, a Service Medal in Boy Scouts and a 5 Year Service recognition for my 5 Years of Service in Makati Shangri-La Hotel.

Last night, I received another award from My Sunshine.

Without a doubt, this will be the most valuable of the lot. It was given to me as a belated gift for a very special occassion last month.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Color Me Spot-ful

I've had the DVD copy of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for several weeks already but I never got the chance (or the mood?) to watch it. Until yesterday.

It's a very well made film and it employed quite an ingenious way of telling the story: in reverse. It made sense since it is about a man who undergoes a procedure to remove a woman from his memory. But in order to do that, he needed to remember every moment he had with her, from the most recent back to the time they met so his brain could be "mapped". Though the film is a bit confusing in the beginning, it gets better once you get the hang of the story.

Watching this movie, I couldn't help but remember a guy friend who once told me that if only there was a pill that will make anyone forget a person or an event, it would be the best selling medicine ever! A reasonable prediction!

But would I take this pill to remove some of my bad memories?
Maybe not. Who knows what other stuff it could erase from my puny fabulous brain?

I have so much good memories to cherish and preserve, enough to dwarf the bad ones!

Blessed are the forgetful for they get the better even of their blunders.

Thir13en Months!

Last Thursday, June 9, marked 13 months that my partner and I have been a couple. But that day came and passed, without me realizing it.

I just realized it last night while I was preparing to leave for work. He was kind of disappointed that I remembered just then. Apparently, it's still a big deal.

After celebrating our 1st anniversary, shouldn't we by now start counting by years instead of months?

I guess it's too soon for that . . .

The Hot Elder

Q: Do you believe in a God?
A:You mean, other than MADONNA? Uhmm, yes!
- Latter Days

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Today, my partner and I watched for the nth time, our favorite among the movies we've seen last year, Latter Days. Much has been said about this movie; by friends, film critics and gay-themed film aficionados. But for us, it will remain as the film that "saved" our relationship.

Without getting into details, there was a time in over a year of being together when he went through a personal crisis that almost jeopardized the relationship. The fighter that I am, I had no intention whatsoever to let him go. Yet, I gave him the space he needed to think things through.

To cut the story short, I suggested he watch the DVD to give him a better perspective on what he was going through with the hope that he'd, to be blunt... snap out of it. True enough, it worked like a charm! And now, there's no looking back . . . hopefully!

In honor of Steve Sandvoss, one of the leads in Latter Days who has become one of my Sunshine's ultimate crushes, here are just some of his pics we found in the net . . .

Certainly A Sacrifice!!!

Why does Madonna have a very spotty film resume? Probably since she started off with such trash?!?

After some weeks of waiting, the Madonnaistas finally got to view Madonna's first foray into film, the ominous A Certain Sacrifice. Now, we understand fully why Madonna tried so desperately to halt the release of this film in the 80's, it's just plain awful! For a while there, we questioned our calling to Madonna fandom.

Luckily, the night's graceful hostess, Elg, had other stuff up his sleeve. We got to see the BMW short film STAR that was absolutely funny. Mike Myers' DVD with 2 of Madonna's SNL guestings also provided laughs. Victor also brought a VCD copy of Blond Ambition in France that was more than enough to restore our faith in Madonna. It is definitely Maddie's best tour ever!

It was also a Janet Jackson-trashing night upon watching her Hawaii concert. Suffice it to say, she doesn't stand a chance to the Great M. Not with us around! Haha! We were a little kinder to Kylie Minogue. She may have borrowed a lot of her ideas from Madonna, but she carries it well. So we forgive her, he he!

After a few hours of sleep, with Elg discreetly taking pictures of us, we also got to see different Madonna rare videos, the best of which is her 1990 Oscar performance of Sooner or Later. Simply divine!

All things considered, it was a great night out with fellow Madonnaistas! We all look forward to the next . . .

I'll leave you with photos that pretty much summarize how that night went . . .

In case you have not noticed yet, my blog has a new look!!!

I just found out how to change fonts, colors and include pictures and avatars that simply put, add life to my posts.

I may have overdone stuff a bit . . . but what the heck! I do hope you like it! :-)
